SCIENCE LAB

The students of Kensington have had the privilege of being involved in a comprehensive lab program for over 25 years.  Each year the entire student body does an in depth study in one area of science with grade appropriate hands-on activities.  This is intended to supplement the science instruction taught inthe class.

This year Jan Lovell and Debbie Armstrong will be studying two or three areas of Physical Science.  After two or three weeks of interoductory lessons on the different types of and approaches to science, we will begin studying geology.  The kids will learn to classify and group rocks based on their properties and also some basic information about the formation of rocks.  We will then move on to studying density by testing the sinking and floating ability of substances and we will try a bit of boat design to complete that area of science.
