The Mission of the PTA
- Acts as an intermediary between parents, teachers, and school administrators, including the School Board, to address issues of concern, such as maintenance of class size reduction, after-school care, pesticide use on school grounds, and adequate playground supervision.
- Invites speakers on timely and relevant topics such as homework, parenting skills, math programs, and how to increase interest in reading.
- Sponsors the annual Spring Carnival, a major fundraiser providing funds for programs which the district can't afford, such as earthquake preparedness, updating library books, school assemblies, the Kenvue, the 6th grade student yearbook & teachers' luncheons.
- Provides a regular forum for parents to hear from the school principal, teachers and other interested parents.
The mission of the PTA is to support and speak on behalf of children in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children, to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children, and to encourage parent and public involvement in public schools (www.pta.org). At Kensington Elementary School, the PTA:
Meetings are the First Thursday of every other month at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room
The PTA is your legislative organization. Founded in 1897,
