The Mission of the PTA
Every Child. One Voice.
Overview
PTA builds bridges between homes and schools, integrating the efforts of parents with those of principals and teachers. When you get involved in PTA, the child who benefits most is your own; you are taking a major step toward improving not only your child’s school and community, but also your state and national education and health policies.
Our Purpose
- To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
- To raise the standards of home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
- To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education. PTA strives to ensure that ALL parents get what they need for their children.
- At Kensington School, PTA provides a regular forum for parents to express their views and hear those of the school principal, teachers, and district representatives. PTA invites speakers on timely and relevant topics such as homework, parenting skills, math programs, and how to increase interest in reading.
- PTA sponsors the annual Spring Carnival, a major fundraiser providing funds for programs the district can't afford, such as earthquake preparedness supplies, library books, school assemblies, the Kenvue, the 6th grade student yearbook & teachers' luncheons, and much more.
- PTA supports and speaks on behalf of children: in the school, in the community and before governmental bodies and organizations that make decisions affecting children.
- PTA assists parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children, and encourages parent and public involvement in public schools.
The PTA is your legislative organization. Founded in 1897, the original PTA helped create Child Labor Laws.Resources for parents are available at www.pta.org or www.capta.orgPTA 32nd District (oversees our local PTAs & for Bylaw questions): www.32ndPTA.org • National PTA LINK: www.pta.org
